Seymour is home to the world's first train robbery in 1867, by the infamous Reno brothers. Today, the train still runs through Seymour, but the city is more commonly accessed at the crossroads of State Highway 50 and Interstate 65 in Jackson County.

Aggressive attitudes and progressive ideas have attributed to Seymour's continuous growth in manufacturing and industry. The community has benefited by a substantial influx of new business investment and retail growth. The market area continues to show strong economic indicators through low unemployment and wages that are above the state average.

Village Center Shopping Center was built in 1987, offering additional retail to a growing community. The shopping center is anchored by Foods Plus Supermarket, which is owned and operated by Jay C. Foods. Jay C. Foods corporate headquarters are located in Seymour.

Village Center is located within Seymour's primary retail corridor and attracts consumers from the entire county. Growth, improved sales and increased consumer traffic are part of the success and viability of the city of Seymour and Village Center Shopping Center.
