AUGUST 24, 2006 - SOUTHWIND PLAZA RIBBON CUTTING MARKS COMPLETION OF RENOVATIONS, REGENCY PROPERTIES DONATION TO POSEY COUNTY YOUNG LIFE
Mt. Vernon, Indiana: Regency Properties, the Evansville, Indiana based commercial real estate company that acquired Southwind Plaza Shopping Center this past spring, announced the completion of the Center’s renovations today. Sharing in the announcement, Wesselman’s supermarket at Southwind has also completed in-store remodeling within its grocery store at the Center.
The announcement was accompanied by a ribbon cutting, featuring a $10-dollar- bill-bedecked ribbon for a $750.00 cash donation to Posey County Young Life. The ribbon and a check from Regency Properties were presented to Keith Oeth, representative for Posey County Young Life, an organization that serves junior high and senior high school students in Mt Vernon and the surrounding area.
Mt. Vernon Mayor Rosemary Knowles has lauded Regency Properties and Wesselman’s for the improvements they made to Southwind Plaza. “All of us in Mt. Vernon and Posey County are delighted with what they’ve done. The shopping center is an attractive ‘front door’ to the community.” Knowles said.
“Regency is very enthusiastic to be a part of the Mt. Vernon and Posey County community. We enjoy growth and investing in a bright future. Mt. Vernon reflects both, and we want to be a contributing partner in return,” announced Jim McKinney, Regency Properties’ President and CEO. “Southwind Plaza was a jewel in the rough that now better reflects the shopping environment Mt. Vernon deserves. Regency is very thankful to all the local officials and friends who helped us in the acquisition and redevelopment of the shopping center.”
A complimentary cook-out lunch prepared by Young Life and hosted by Wesselman’s and Regency preceded the ribbon cutting celebration at the Center.
Brian James, Chief Operating Officer of Wesselman’s Supermarkets, also spoke to media and officials. “We’ve been a proud member of the Mt. Vernon community for 28 years now. It’s great to reaffirm our commitment to this area by renovating our store, and providing even more value and selection.”
Southwind Plaza Shopping Center is located at the stop light on Indiana State Road 62 and Southwind Plaza. In addition to Wesselman’s, Pamida, Dollar General, Edward Jones, Coin Laundry and Tequila’s restaurant are also located at the center.
